I have a Golden Touch and Sew that I use for parts. I was surprised to find that although the slide plate on it is wider than the one on the Rocketeer, the leaf springs match in size. There is an amazing screw that goes all the way through the body of the sewing machine. If you could access it from the bobbin area (which is next to impossible without removing a lot of things that are better left where they are), it would be turned left to loosen like most other screws. However, if you access it from the underside of the lip of the machine, it goes to the right to loosen. How unique is that?!? The screw actually never comes out, but there is an opening in the leaf spring, so that it can be removed if the screw is loose.

I now have a normal closing slide plate on my "new" Rocketeer. So far it is sewing, but I need to give it more of a workout. I have pieces cut for a Linus quilt and will use the Rocketeer to do the piecing.
