i made this for one of our church breakfast's and it was FANTASTIC!! best is i had it done by 5pm the nite before and it sat in the oven. outstanding! good luck with whatever you decide to do!
6 slices bread, buttered side down
2c shredded cheddar cheese
1lb sausage, cooked and drained (i had a bit o bacon left over and threw that in as well)
1lb sliced fresh mushrooms
1can Ortega chopped green chilis
2c shredded jack cheese
layer those in that order in the bottom of a 10x13 pan (i used a 9x13 glass one)
in a bowl combine
2c milk 2 tsp salt
6 beaten eggs
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp onion salt
1/2 tsp dried mustard
pour evenly over the casserole, cover with foil, and refrigerate overnite.
in the morning, remove the foil and bake at 350 for 50 minutes; let stand for 5 before serving.
