Mary, I am going to put that idea to use this week! I have a ton of boards from Joann and will have the hubster cut them up for me ASAP.

As of today I am on a fabric and embroidery fast FOREVER. You know that saying about the one who dies with the biggest stash wins? Well, I want to be the Biggest Loser!!! I decided that when I turn 60 I am going to do my best to sew through all of my fabric and use every single embroidery design I own. I'm going to start blogging about it later on today.

I sent the following to two of my dear QB friends ... and you'll understand why I am now fasting!!!

Here's how my weekend started.
I am embarrassed to let you know what I've been up to. Hahahaha!

OK. Hubster is on vacation. He took Friday off so we could go to Jones Beach to see the
air show rehearsal.
Not my cup of tea, but he goes to quilt shows with me, so fair is fair. The rehearsal is always easier because the parking -- including the illegal parking on miles of the road shoulder -- fills up by 6:00 am. But, sad to say (although not for me) it was rainy and foggy so no rehearsal.

So ... since he is a Marine and since Joann was having a huge sale with 20% off for Vets and the red dot section was 50% off ... we went to the far-away Joann. I filled the trunk and back seat of my car -- and I mean FULL -- for a little over $100.

Then I said, OK. I am starting my blog on Tuesday and that means a complete FABRIC FAST. We got home kind of late and the pupsters were upset, especially Daisy who is by my side all day every day ... so we went to the dog park, came home, tried to go to this incredible little Italian place for wood oven pizza, but they were done, so ... foo ... plain old pizza for dinner and then I promptly fell asleep watching TV.

Saturday morning ... SURPRIZE!!!!! You know all about that one! GIANT box of FQ's as a birthday surprise.

Meanwhile, the pups were walked and we were too late to go to the air show (YAY!) so my dear enabler hubster saw that I received a Joann gift card from Brenda (thank you, thank you, thank you) and said, let's go to the REALLY far away Joann. So we did. I'd never been to that one before but heard it was nice. And it was ... so ... once again the trunk and back seat got filled up for a little more this time - about $130. And again I said, OK. That's it. NO MORE FABRIC!!!

Then it was about 4:00 and we were starving. I didn't even have breakfast and while there was a half a small bag of cheese crisps in the car, hubster glommed them up. Nothing too interesting around in the way of restaurants and I wanted to get back to the dogs ... but we saw a Denny's and neither of us had ever been to one AND there was a 20% discount for SENIOR CITIZENS!!! I'm starting to like this being old stuff!

Food wasn't great, but c'est la vie. Then we stopped at the Walmart there ... and I didn't even LOOK for the fabric department. (clapping wildly for my self-restraint) Picked up some cute sun dresses to go with my new hair do ... lots of length chopped off -- and some fun blingy jewels ... (in the grocery store today one of the trust fund baby condo dwellers stopped me to say how much she looooved my necklace. Ha! $7 WITH earrings ... but I demurely said, "Ohhhh, thank you so much")

We finally got home and decided to take the pups to the dog park. On the way I informed my hub that part of his vacation would be spent helping me to organize all my fabric. He reluctantly agreed. I think he just wants to eat on the dining room table again some day ... and then I got a text from my wonderful neighbor, Diane. "Are you interested in fabric and an antique sewing machine?"

ARGHHHHHH! She sent me the address.

We got home, ate dinner and, again, I fell asleep watching TV. I'm a real party girl!

Sooooooo. .... today I went to the garage sale where this fabric was. *SIGH* I picked up several gorgeous hand stitched lace and embroidery pieces ... and ... FOUR HUGE ROLLS OF SILK!!!! How much? $7!!!

Back home and I finished washing some other stuff I picked up a week ago ... had a smell ... including an amazing hand stitched quilt top in 30s fabric. Still a stain and a little whiff of something .... so ... off to the supermarket for borax, oxyclean and vinegar. And now I am done. Really. I am ready to start blogging about the great end of life sew off tomorrow.

And that brings us to dinner time ... went back to the little Italian place in the hope of getting some of their amazing pizza ... and the tables were on end ... they ran out of dough! Hmph! One of these days ... so hot dogs it was. But to even things out, we went to Marvel -- which I guess is like Dairy Queen but without the parking. There is a little old Italian man who vigorously waves you in and out of the parking lot where you are permitted to spend 10 minutes eating your ice cream. There's no parking on the street since it's part of a beach community with no street parking allowed. If you're having guests, you must tell the police in advance!

This morning all I really wanted to do was walk up to our main street and watch the parade with my husband. But nooooooo. He had to take the dogs to the park -- and then he couldn't get back home. Grrrrr. Nonetheless, I am having a fabulous weekend. I will pick today's strawberries, then pick some of the delicious Martha Stewart roses that are blooming all over the place, and relax! Maybe play with my fabric. As for that little Italian place ... I give up. Maybe next week.
