kaffe fasset designs modern quilts and his quilts and fabrics are full of color and you can include amy butler in that group. modern quilting is not just minimalist, that is only part of it. have you seen city quilts designed by
cherry house quilts? she uses solids for her quilts but they are full of color.
oh and modern quilts can contain embellishments too. i am designing one now that will be ladies dressed up and i will embellish their dresses with both decorative stitches and beading/buttons.
