It is still beautiful and I agree with not getting the quilting out. I've tried that before and even with washing and ironing I could still see some old needle marks. I use the clear vinyl and a dry erase marker to preview my quilting designs now. What I think will look great quilted on a top sometimes does not suit it after I preview it. It has saved me some quilting mistakes.
I would read "Quilted to Death".
