Actually, I just had TWO orders for quilts last night - for the first time ever - I am so excited. A lap quilt for a guy I went to college with - his wife ordered it - he is not well and she wants one for him and then she wants a king size one for their bed. I asked her to purchase (pay for) the fabric - told her the approx price for quilt store fabric (which is what she wants to use) and told her it takes 60 - 70 hours to hand quilt and she could pay me what she thought was fair - NORMALLY I would not do it that way - but their income is limited and I know I'll get something for the labor - I am looking at it mostly as practice for a 'customer.' I will charge the next time someone asks me to do something - I will have a better idea how nervewracking it will be to quilt for a customer and how long it will take - i have never REALLY timed the hours - I will pay close attention this time... :) Hope I don't live to regret this!! :)
