Default cardinal rules: will i burst into flames?

i made a rule for myself a long time ago to tame the perfectionist in me and allow something to actually get done.

it is: never EVER tear out hand quilting. no matter what. EVER.

but.

then.

two blocks from completion of a very large project i turned a heart upside down. i fixed it.

this project i am working on now...well. usually i would do a test block to make sure i liked what i was using, it fit etc. etc.

this time i felt so pressured for time i went ahead on faith that everything would be okay.

well. the one motif isn't going to work at all, so that's one whole block that needs to come out. then the second block i quilted looked a little small, so i enlarged the stencil and now...well. i have a butterfly that is 1" smaller than the rest. i have done three blocks and two need to come out.

i am going to bed now. and my gratitude is for the block and sashing i stitched today. (and no i'm not thinking about the other 41 that await my loving needle....)

i am not smoking. but i haven't found the stitch ripper yet either.
