Maybe Singer was afraid to put a fast motor on it for fear it wouldn't do a good job on the fancy stitches? It wouldn't be hard to tack on a hefty motor though. I haven't done much with mine. I got it cleaned up and put some kind of motor from another machine on it and I do know it runs. I did not like it for free motion - I felt too cramped. I'm wondering if I would like one of the high shank Kenmores for finger room better.
