My 319 was very fast with the motor installed. I only use mine now as a treadle a find it is a little slow doing the decorative stitches but straight stitch is just as fast as my other treadles. But for me it is fast enough.
I guess because I have so many other electric machines, I notice the big difference. I would imagine treadling the 319 is almost the best way to go and chuck the motor. I think you all that have done this are very clever. Because the motor won't give you much more uuumph:> There are times when I use it, that I say not so nice things and mutter a lot. I've been using it less and less honestly, as I can do the job twice as fast with one of my other machines. Zoom, zoom rather than putt...putt :> It does beautiful, deliberate stitches, but I'm becoming less enamored with it, the more machines I collect and compare it to.
