Well from what I gather from my cursory look at the book you fuse one fabric to the back of another right sides out, then you cut certain patterns on the fabric and then fold back to reveal the fused fabric on the top and place the whole thing onto a third fabric backing to add the third look. Sew down the flaps and there you have it.
