Default FFO - "Amsterdam" Easter Star

That's no typo in the title - it's an FFO (Finally Finished Object) from a Carol Doak workshop in 2006. I put the project down when the fabric in the corner triangles didn't work but couldn't figure out why. Then I actually counted the other-color squares between the yellow squares and discovered the asymmetry, which made the pattern "shimmer" in all the wrong way at a distance in two of the corners. All it took was a trip to JoAnns, where I found the fabric, had it cut and was back home in 25 minutes. Sometimes the magic works, y'know?

This foundation-pieced star is Carol Doak's "Amsterdam" - the border is half the original pattern's width, which looked better to my eye. Almost all the quilting was stitch-in-the-ditch, with additional quilting in the white floral setting triangles. Finished dimensions are ~21" x 21".
