If you have a Tractor Supply or some type of feed store near you, get them some Duramycin-10.
It's an antibiotic. I was told to use this the first week of a chick's life when we bought our first batch 3 years ago.
We haven't lost 1 yet.
The antibiotic is a powder that goes into their water. They really need it. I think it's around $7 here, and it's good for years.
Update on our chicks that arrived May 30th. In the first 24 hours we lost 8 of our 11 chicks and then, 3 more.
However, the good news is that the remaining 7 are doing fine, growing like weeds and havin' fun.
It must have been a turbulent jet flight to our town.
