I made a quilt for our bed and it wasn't wide enough so I pieced a 'strip' about 12 inches wide for each side, quilted it to match the quilt, bound it on the bottom and ends then, without removing the binding of the original quilt I added it to the side of the quilt, sewing in the ditch of the original binding. It worked great and looks great as well! (Is this clear as mud?)
