Oh great, its so nice to see someone else does this the slow looong way like I do. I lay out my blocks exactly like you do...only I'm too scared to pin them together like you. I lay out the block and pick it up piece by piece and row by row to sew it together. I just know I'd get myself all messed up if I tried to pin the rows in a stack...my seam ripper could tell you a thing or two! Like you, with this type of block, I pin all my seams..well, sometimes I cheat and just nest them together.
