I read two books before I started - Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts by Eileen Wright, and Bargello Quilts by Marge Edie - I recommend both! Once I had all my long strips put together I sliced them into strips in widths varying from 4.25 - 1.5...sort of just at random, although I knew I wanted 3 "peaks" so I had just three of the 1.5 inch strips. Then I just played with them on my design wall until they made me happy! I do a lot of my projects this way - lots of research up front and then I fly by the seat of my pants!

I wish I had made more of the narrower strips because I think that would have given it more "motion", but overall pretty happy with my first try. I think I might do another one in pinks and whites, for my neice. (This one is for my mom.)
