sheriR....mine is only 24" x 24"....just bought a piece of particle(?) board that was pre-cut at HD, put several coats of white primer on. I sketched out the block on graph paper, then measured and drew the design on the board with a pencil. Used painter's tape to block off one section at a time, and tried to be very patient to let each coat of paint dry before ripping off the tape to do the next section! I just used acrylic craft paint. Will seal it in the fall after it has weathered and toned down a bit. If you google "barn quilts", there are tons of tutorials on making full-sized quilts. Most, I believe, are done in 4 sections.
