Dunster, you said the LA'r usually wants 3-4 inches all around. What if you just did not have that, wanted to use a certain piece as backing, but it came up a little short, but covered all the quilting area. Could you add a cheater piece that would be cut off later if you double seamed (like jeans seams) to make it sturdy? I always wondered that when I read the requirements as that has happened to me a few times(cutting it close) just doing on DSM,
