Pattia...the blocks are to measure 6 1/2" square. When you stitch them together, they will finish at 6", which allows for the 1/4" seam allowance. Good question! 
Thank you for asking Pattia. I had to recheck my completed blocks and they measure 7" including the 1/4" seams so completed would be 6 1/2" so I guess I won't be sending the ones I made after all
Will see what I can complete before the deadline.
