I feel like Little Orphan Annie. I took AnnieRose's ( the 301) plug into the LQS today. I know I have other machines, but when I think quilt, I think of her. I used the Necchi for a while today. It wants the needlebar to be put down hard in order for the presser foot to be near the feeddogs. I will take it apart and see if it needs more lubrication. As previously noted, the Necchi (and my Elna) have very little clearance and announce their need for oil quite distinctly. I assume that's all she needs. Who knows when it was sewn with before this week. My GD used it all week now it's my turn.

I will put a new plug on the Universal that shorted out when my GD plugged it in. It's a pretty, smooth running machine and should do fine. I don't have a SITD foot for a short or long shank, only slant. Can I use a zipper foot?
