Linda, it works best if you cut off 18" of the first strip. Otherwise you end up with each strip starting on one side of the quilt and ending on the other side, next strip doing the same, etc. so you end up with just strips basically sewn together. Taking off the 18" makes it so the the strips "wrap" to the next row. Am I making this clear? :-)
Jelly Roll Race finished... and I came in dead last!
Seriously. And, there were only 3 of us that showed up for the race. I found out it was the first ever in our city.
Had a wonderful time, met 5 very nice women and learned a lot about the shop. My 301 was screaming but ever once in a while it would just create a machine stopping bird's nest. Beautiful stitching, bird's nest, cut the mess away and begin again and same thing. Think I had 6x of that happening. I have no idea why.
For third or last place I received a very nice present of a Babylock set of two scissors and an awesome thread cutter. I will post photos of my quilt top and presents tomorrow.
OH, and I decided I don't really like speed sewing quite to that extent!
It was a great experience and at least I found out what I do and don't like.
We did cut off 18" once we had all of the strips sewn together on the first round. Thanks for everyone's encouragement. Y'all are so great.
