Here is my version of Hot Fudge Pudding Cake


Cake Recipe

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 heaping Tablespoon cocoa
1 cup milk
4 Tablespoon shortening

Pudding Recipe

3 Cups Sugar
12 heaping tablespoons cocoa
--------------------------------
5 1/4 cup hot water



Melt the shortening in a bowl. Add the sugar and mix. In a seperate bowl mix the flour and cocoa and add the baking powder.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well.

No need to butter or flour the pan. So pour the cake mix into a deep baking dish. Spread the batter over the bottom of the pan.

Combine the sugar and cocoa for the pudding in a bowl. Mix well. Spread this evenly over the batter.

Now slowly pour water over the sugar/cocoa mix until you have added all the water.


Bake for 40 to 45 mins at 350 degrees.

When it is done it will have the cake floating at the top and the cake will be cracked and dry looking. That is normal for this cake. Serve with ice cream or as is.

I think it is even better after it has cooled and set. When you first take it out of the oven the pudding is more like chocolate sauce but as it cools it will set more into a pudding consistency.
