Before you sign up for a cruise, look into the Alaska Marine Highway. More afforable and you will get a much closer view.

What I have heard about cruising Alaska is that when these mega big cruise ships pull into a port that the towns ccan't really handle the rush and you end up waiting in line anywhere you go (to lunch, shopping)
