i like the hobbs heirloom or 80/20 batts- the dream batts (like dream wool & dream cotton) are also nice for hand quilting- mountain mist makes batts specific for hand quilting- their batts are not well suited to long-arm quilting
i would avoid a batt with scrim like w&n- they can be very difficult to needle & are really made for machine quilting.
