My dark quilt I made the lining out of scraps that were 45" wide but from 8 to 16" long. The quilt finished 45" by 60" and it was the first one I sold when I decided to sell some. I thought it was the uglist one I had ever made.
I just went through all the scrap suggestions made on Bonnie Hunter's website http://quiltville.com/scrapusersystem.shtml I'm using her guidelines. I had already started sorting by color family and by shapes. Her information is really helpful. Then I went and looked at a lot of the free quilt patterns she has - lots of good ideas there, too.
