We keep a couple on the bar/counter between kitchen and living room standing up in a jar. When we had a power outage, I grabbed one for going down the hall to the bathroom and it worked fabulously. We got ours at the $1 store but they don't have them all the time. And you don't have to worry about who had the flashlight last or where did I put the %# batteries - and there is nothing to tip over for a fire like a candle. Like you, the idea just hit me one day. Thinking of tossing a couple in the car for our trip - not sure why yet, but who knows? :-)
