Oh yeah. Ya can use any stitch that ya want. I used the satin stitch 'cause I wanted that look on the front. This is a good technique for quilts. The satin stitch was very hard goin' through 2 washrags & 5 layers if fabric. Lookin' back I should have top stitched it. It would have looked so much better!!! As it is the satin stitch looks sloppy. Actually when I was thinkin' about this potholder I was thinkin' about usin' the MM method, but I told someone that I would do a tute for this method.
