As a handquilter, I'd echo quilt most of the pieces. I'd do a cross-hatch or maybe a rope pattern in the sashes between the blocks - and I'd look for a design to put in the center block - maybe a simple flower. In the corner blocks of the sashing, I'd just do an X. I like to take my quilt tops to a stencil place to see what fits in the blocks...
