The Challenge quilt for my guild this year was a red, white and blue quilt for charity to be sent to injured servicemen in V.A. hospitals. I looked through a ton of my Quiltmaker back issues and this pattern finally jumped out at me. The original was a Christmas theme, but I could see it in red, white and blue. It's machine pieced and stitched in the ditch. The border was stitched with a modified Baptist Fan pattern, but my camera just would not pick up the detail. I machine embroidered a label with my name and year and the sentiment "In gratitude for your service". I hope the soldier who gets it receives some comfort and peace.
