I think it would depend on just high high the loft of the batting you are considering. I did one quilt with REALLY HIGH loft. NEVER , EVER .. EVER again!
If its batting you can buy by the yard , or even get a small crib or craft size. I would buy it and experiment... it would be awful to buy a big batting get it all basted .. start working on it ... and then figure out that a differnent batting would be easier.
Ever machine model performs a bit differently, as does each quilter ...
