I just finished quilting a large baby quilt on my old Bernina 830 Record today using the walking foot because my niece wanted straight line quilting. It is so much easier on my back, shoulder, and neck than FMQ. I had given up on FMQ because of the pain I had the last time I tried. I'm doing two more baby quilts over the next couple of weeks and will use different versions of straight line quilting because it is so much easier for me. On my own queen size quilt after those are finished, I'm going to try the serpentine stitch all over with a walking foot.
