The 'good' scissors are to be used ONLY for fabrics - and woe upon whoever used them for something else!
I have 3 kids; ages 8, 11, & 13. They know better than to take my scissors. I have a few they can 'use' but beware if you take them away from my sewing area. I have sewing scissors too, they have to ask to use them.
I too am on the fence. It depends on my mood and my mood is subject to change.
