OK...I tried the scraps in the water and they turned blood red, but it did take a while for it to happen. So...here is what I think happened. I had washed the fabric that I bought especially for this swap and I had ironed it on my board. For some reason, when I do that I will have small areas on the ironing board that form wet circles..no matter how much I iron over them, they don't dry for quite some time. Anyway...I think I had the wet circles on the board and when I put it back in my sewing room, I tossed the completed blocks on the ironing board and yup...they landed on a circle so they sat there until the circle dried. So they were wet for quite some time and they bled.
So...long story short....I will be remaking 11 blocks with different fabric. I would be mortified if any of you got them and they ran in whatever you were making and ruined it!
