Miriam, I hope your son and his family like Seattle. My son moved there twice from LA and hated it both times. Gloomy weather, and even snow the winters he was there. He had to leave his car by the side of the street one day because of the ice. Someone noticed that another person hit it and had them leave a note in the window. He later put a note on the car and told others to let him or his insurance when they hit his car. It was there a week or two before it could be moved and 5-6 people had left notes about hitting it. His insurance had to figure out which one was which in order to get the payments for the hits. There must be a lot of honest people there in Seattle!
