From what my wife told me the cabinet is in good shape, other than the veneer on top. I'm hoping I can glue it back down, then sand, stain, and refinish it to some sort of match to the rest of it.
I'm not good at wood working so I try to do as little as I can.

NICE,,but do not bother with the veneer....you will never get it done good enough to stay done...just remove it all, sand down the wood and go from there...they are stiff very pretty under that veneer.
