If your machine is a Designer 1 it will use SHV format. You can get many patterns to download from embroiderydk.com for a very minimal charge. This particular format is very hard to find and even harder to change from other formats. I have a Designer1 and love it but this is a big drawback of this model. I have been considering getting Embird soft ware which is much cheaper than Viking but am waiting for retirement when I have more time.Hope this was helpful. Good luck with your new machine.
