Isn't it wonderful to hear a story like that. The first quilts I made for my kids are still with them. My daughter is planning to give our 2 year old granddaughter - Zoe - her quilt as an heirloom - it was a full size quilt and the only one that I was able to handquilt before carpal tunnel got the best of me. I wish I had a quilt that my Mother made, but unfortunately, with 7 children the quilts were "worn out".
