I don't have a specific pattern. To make the plates, I used this ruler
http://www.amazon.com/Dresden-Darlen.../dp/B003W0J9WK. I made the plates, laid one on fabric and decided I wanted 1" bigger for the backing (now I'd do it no less than 2" bigger). I did 3" sashing....and the corner stones are little squares (handstitched - OMG) that measure 3" square when done.
