Border collies are super smart and need a job to keep their mind occupied and use up all that energy that has been bred into them for herding sheep, they have been bred to think for themselves. If you don't supply a challenging activity for them, they can become destructive. Basic obedience first. Get her enrolled in a class as soon as you can, the are never too young to start. Then you can look into Agility. Agility is a great thing to get involved with. It is good exercise for you and your dog, gives your dog confidence and is a ton of fun and border collies excel at it. Kids can do it too so make sure you involve your DGD.
