I made my first tote bag a couple of weeks ago and I used leftover batting I had at home (with basting spray). I also made another tote on Friday where I used Pellon Fusible Fleece. While I had no problems with using the leftover batting technique wise (it worked just fine) - I will be sticking with the fusible fleece. If I were to use leftover batting again for some reason, I would want to add a stiffer interfacing to the lining. The fusible fleece gives the purse more "body."

It really just depends on how you like your purse.
