look what my sister made.....and without a pattern.
She invited us and another couple over for dinner and she said that she made a little table topper but had not had a chance to finish it - it needs a little more quilting and a binding. I told her no big deal just go ahead and use it. She made it to be used for a checker board so the center is just squares and she added border fabric. I think she did an excellent job. Her friend brought homemade white sangria with watermelon and other fruit and I brought the cake. Imagine her surprise when she saw the cake. I did not make the cake just bought it at the grocery store bakery and it tasted as good as it looked.
