Our group meets weekly from 9 - 12 to make prayer quilts using donated fabrics. We started out all making blocks for the tops, then assembling the blocks into sections, then joining sections. Found out quickly that each of us has a 'personal 1/4 inch'. Made for some very interesting challenges to fit them all together and much laughter. We all help to sandwich and pin the quilts. Someone volunteers to make the binding - those who have walking feet will put the binding on - and someone else will handsew the binding on the back (I love doing that part). As the group matured in our skills we have found that we are much faster if each individual picks a pattern and fabric for the flimsy then we can all be a part of the finishing process. I personally love the whole process (except maybe the rotary cutting). I guess that makes me a 'whatever needs to be done next' kinda person.
