I FMQ all the time on my vintage FW. I prefer a 90/14 or 80/12 embroidery or quilting needle. On the Organ brand, these are 15x1ST. 15x1 is the needle system used in the vintage machines. 130/705H is the system in modern machines. You can use 130/705 or 15x1 needles in vintage machines. Embroidery and quilting needles have a larger eye which puts less stress on the thread. I do notice a difference when using embroidery vs universal needles. The 15x1ST needles cost more than the 15x1, and in my opinion, are worth the additional cost.
