When they don't have batting they are called Summer quilts. It is wonderful. I love that you used glue stick, it is a good option for quilters. Before paper backed fusible it was used all the time for applique. It is easy to sew through and does wash out if used for a bed quilt.
I love that the light comes through. It does look like a jewel box, very beautiful, very innovative. a wonderful piece of art.
