They got me to thinking in a different direction and that's exactly what was needed. Think I need to make a trip to a real fabric store (what a problem
). I had bought some black & while checked that makes you think of Nascar flags but, the black and white just didn't look right with all that blue. Depending on what I find at the store, the black and white
might work in somehow for the backing.

I think the checkered flag look on it's own might be just too much! Breaking it with the lefltover fabrics from the front would work perfectly. They could each be the same width, or if it was me, I'd probably go with variable widths of all.
