I have an "ugly" fireplace like the one in the photo. I bought light cement paint and just painted all my grout from the dark color to a lighter cream. LOVE the change in the whole room. Easy to do, not messy, fairly quick. Instant improvement.
Thanks for the idea - dear husband thinks the fireplace is fine but I find it lacking!
