Just pick a method and try it. I've done 4 different methods so far. The method demonstrated at
http://www.quiltingworks.com/cabin-f...ltasyougo3.htm is the same method that Sharon Pederson introduced in her book Reversible Quilts. Most libraries have at least one of her books that shows you how to assemble the finished blocks (and yes, you can quilt right to the edge).

I usually do strip quilt as you go - mostly because I hate finishing work but love the ease that I can quilt smaller sections on my sewing machine. You stop quilting within 1/2 inch of edge. This is my best example.

I am a lazy finisher and really only recommend the block by block QATW method for hand quilting.
