I use Printed Treasures fabric that I buy at JoAnn's, print in the inkjet printer, follow directions on package. The only negative is that the fabric is rather hard to sew by hand. You can also use Bubble Jet Set from HP to prepare your own fabric for printing. However... "forever" is a long time. I'm not convinced that the dye doesn't significantly fade over time.
