I was known by my son's friends as the "strict mom". DH & I worked full-time and like Jeanie, I had chores for him to do when he got home from school. He knew to have the table set and the salad started. He complained then but he appreciates it now; DIL really appreciates it since he cooks, does laundry, etc. He learned because he had to. He's less strict with his kids, they do some chores but definitely spend too much time on computer or video games. My job is to keep my mouth shut LOL and let him do the parenting his way.

I too am one of the "strict moms"...making my kids do chores and not letting them go here or there all the time. It is especially "bad" that I don't let them talk on the phone, play the computer or watch tv whenever they want. My 14 yo dd thinks things around here are worse than her younger brother (12) and sister (10). Praying that one day they appreciate it like some of your children who are grown.
