Default I'm a total newbie at vintage machines......help!!

Hi!

I just acquired a Singer 301a......I'm *IN LOVE*!! She was very neglected/dirty but her stitches were amazing!! I have done lots of surfing/research and I guess my old brain is just not wanting to cooperate with me!! Can someone please tell me what is the best cleaner/solvent to use on gummed up grease on the gears and other metal parts? Can I use Tri-flow for the sewing machine oil.....I know I need to use the Singer Motor Lubricant for the motor but just wondering about the oil?? Also, at the top there are 3 oil holes that have wicks in them....is that common?? Haven't seen anything like that in my research.....just wondering if it might be gummed up oil!

TIA =)

PS: tried to upload a pic....didn't work!! =(
