As to cleaning your Rowenta...there's a product called 'iron off' or something similar available in (usually) grocery stores, Walmart, Target, etc. It comes in a toothpaste like tube and you squeeze a blob onto a rag and with your iron at it's highest heat setting, iron over the goop until the soleplate is clean. Have used it a few times and it's very effective.
